Cork City Council Identity

Project Summary:

I was asked to redesign the crest used by Cork City Council as their logo. I had to work within a very strict set of guidelines as this crest is also used as the coat of arms for the city, details of which were laid down by the Chief Herald back in 1949. In the past the only version of the logo/coat of arms that existed was a poor quality scan of an earlier version. The brief was to re-draw the coat of arms/logo in vector format, using a modern and clear interpretation, while abiding by the original description from 1949. The identity has also to comply with laws stipulating that all communications must give equal weight to both Irish and English.
